Das Akkordeonduo con:trust, gegründet im Jahr 2016 in Weimar, setzt sich aus den preisgekrönten Akkordeonisten, Komponisten und Pädagogen Marius Staible und Daniel Roth zusammen. Die beiden Musiker engagieren sich aktiv für die Weiterentwicklung des Akkordeons und seiner Literatur. Sie selbst betonen: „Das Akkordeon ist ein junges Instrument und spiegelt somit unseren Zeitgeist wider – es ist wunderbar, dazu etwas beitragen zu können.“
Staible und Roth haben zahlreiche Uraufführungen von Werken nationaler und internationaler Komponist:innen, darunter Uroš Rojko, C. René Hirschfeld, Tim Helbig und Euna Joh, realisiert. Sie traten bei angesehenen Festivals und Konzertreihen auf, wie dem Kurt Weill Fest in Dessau, den Bachspielen in Leipzig, der Unerhörten Musik in Berlin sowie dem Kunstfest Weimar.
Die beiden Akkordeonisten weisen markante Unterschiede auf: Marius Staible, der aus Nürnberg stammt, hat klassisches Akkordeon und Musikpädagogik bei Stephan Bahr und Prof. Claudia Buder sowie im „Profil Neue Musik“ Musikproduktion und Elektroakustik am SEAM in Weimar studiert. Im Jahr 2021 wurde er erster Preisträger des internationalen Akkordeonwettbewerbs in Vilnius. Daniel Roth hingegen wuchs im Saarland auf und studierte Akkordeon bei Prof. Claudia Buder, Prof. Ivan Koval und Prof. Veli Kujala in Weimar und Helsinki sowie Musiktheorie als Zweitfach bei Prof. Jörn Arnecke und Marcus Aydintan in Weimar. 2023 wurde er mit dem 1. Preis des internationalen Akkordeonwettbewerbs accordions-nous in der Kategorie Senior Variety in Belgien ausgezeichnet.
Das Duo wurde 2017 erster Preisträger der beiden internationalen Kammermusikwettbewerbe Val Tidone und Tino Anguissola Scotti in Italien. Es folgten Konzertreisen in die Tschechische Republik und nach Israel sowie Auftritte in der Berliner Philharmonie. Das Duo erhielt für seine besonderen musikalischen Leistungen den Franz Liszt Preis 2022.
Nach konzertanten Auftritten in Griechenland, Österreich, Belgien, Frankreich, Finnland, den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten und Israel krönten Staible und Roth 2024 ihren internationalen Erfolg mit einer Konzerttournee in New York, Toronto und Berlin. Ihre Teilnahme am Supertalent 2024 war ein großer Erfolg: Der Auftritt des Duos zählt mit über 2 Millionen Aufrufen auf YouTube zu den erfolgreichsten Acts der Sendung. Im Jahr 2025 wurde das Duo con:trust zudem mit dem 1. Preis des John Cage Awards in Halberstadt ausgezeichnet.

The accordion duo con:trust, founded in Weimar in 2016, consists of the award-winning accordionists, composers, and educators Marius Staible and Daniel Roth. The two musicians are actively committed to the further development of the accordion and its repertoire. As they themselves emphasize: “The accordion is a young instrument and thus reflects the spirit of our times—it is wonderful to be able to contribute to that.”
Staible and Roth have premiered numerous works by national and international composers, including Uroš Rojko, C. René Hirschfeld, Tim Helbig, and Euna Joh. They have performed at prestigious festivals and concert series, such as the Kurt Weill Fest in Dessau, the Bachspiele in Leipzig, the *Unerhörte Musik* series in Berlin, and the Kunstfest Weimar.
The two accordionists possess distinct backgrounds: Marius Staible, a native of Nuremberg, studied classical accordion and music pedagogy under Stephan Bahr and Prof. Claudia Buder, as well as music production and electroacoustics (within the “New Music Profile” program) at the SEAM in Weimar. In 2021, he won First Prize at the International Accordion Competition in Vilnius. Daniel Roth, conversely, grew up in the Saarland region and studied accordion under Prof. Claudia Buder, Prof. Ivan Koval, and Prof. Veli Kujala in Weimar and Helsinki, while also pursuing music theory as a minor subject under Prof. Jörn Arnecke and Marcus Aydintan in Weimar. In 2023, he was awarded First Prize at the international accordion competition *accordions-nous* in Belgium, in the Senior Variety category.
In 2017, the duo won First Prize at two international chamber music competitions in Italy: the Val Tidone International Music Competition and the Tino Anguissola Scotti Competition. Concert tours to the Czech Republic and Israel followed, as well as performances at the Berlin Philharmonie. The duo was awarded the 2022 Franz Liszt Prize for their exceptional musical achievements.
Following concert performances in Greece, Austria, Belgium, France, Finland, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel, Staible and Roth crowned their international success in 2024 with a concert tour in New York, Toronto, and Berlin. Their participation in *Supertalent* 2024 was a resounding success: with over 2 million views on YouTube, the duo’s performance ranks among the show’s most successful acts. In 2025, the duo con:trust was awarded First Prize at the John Cage Awards in Halberstadt.
